Our Name

FourTwelve derives from Ephesians 4:12 and articulates our mission:

"The gifts God gave were that some would be apostles,
some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers,

to equip the saints for the work of ministry,
for building up the body of Christ,

until all of us come to the unity of the faith
and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to maturity,
to the measure of the full stature of Christ."
Ephesians 4:11-13

The Rev. Veronica M. Tierney, PhD

Founder and Principal

Veronica Tierney founded FourTwelve, LLC in 2021 with a mission to bring disciplines from the business world to the day-to-day operations of the churches. During her ministry as a solo pastor to two Episcopal congregations, she found herself needing to spend considerable time and energy on outdated (or absent!) church management software and accounting platforms, inadequate policies and procedures, and inefficient systems for leading her communities. While she chose to leave the finance and investment management industry in order to serve the church in the priesthood, she found herself relying heavily on that prior experience. She found that many of her clergy colleagues struggled to lead in these areas for which they felt ill-prepared and ill-equipped.

During her service with the Program and Budget Committee and Commission on Finance in the Episcopal Diocese of Rhode Island, she discovered that her particular skillset and experience aligned well with the needs of her clergy colleagues and their congregations. Her gift and passion for finding better ways of accomplishing tasks and goals inspired the creation of FourTwelve.

Veronica was born in Victoria, BC, Canada and grew up in San Diego, CA. She earned her BA from Clark University, Worcester, MA in 1995, with a major in European History and a minor in Government and International Relations. Over the course of the next five years, Veronica worked in Retail Investor Services and then Institutional Marketing for State Street Research and Management Company, and in Equity Research for Fidelity Research and Management. She moved from Boston to Los Angeles in 2001 and worked in Client Services for Dimensional Fund Advisors, Santa Monica, CA until 2004 when she moved East again to attend Berkeley Divinity School at Yale.

Veronica earned her MDiv and was ordained deacon in 2007 and priest in 2008. She began her doctoral studies in historical theology at Boston College in 2007 and completed her comprehensive exams in 2010. During a three-year leave of absence, she served as Assistant Chaplain and Theology Teacher at St. George's School, Middletown, RI. She returned to Boston College in 2013, beginning her dissertation research and teaching undergraduates. She served as Priest-in-Charge at Christ Church, Lincoln, RI for three years while also writing her dissertation ("For Us and for Our Salvation": Cyril of Alexandria's Christological Anthropology). Veronica earned her PhD in 2018. She then served for two years as Priest-in-Charge at Sts. Matthew and Mark, Barrington, RI.
